Scoping a penetration test can be a major pain point for security teams. It can take anywhere from a few days to a week.
Synack’s AI-powered Scoping Bot gives customers scoping insights in real-time, drastically reducing the time to scope and launch. Customers can now generate the following data points about assets at the click of a button:
- Assets that are up/down
- Number of login pages found
- API endpoints found
- Firewall blockage

Hey, everyone. We have a new feature inside the Synac platform within the assessment creation experience I'd like to show off. It can be found in step two under scope. So here I am in a new web assessment creation form. I'm going to save the initial information and head over to step two where I have scope. Our new feature is an AI powered scoping bot, which is intended to help you assess whether your assets can be reached by Synack researchers or not. After you've added your assets either manually or by choosing from your existing assets, you can scroll down and see the asset reachability scan option.
Pressing run scan will initiate the generation of an AI powered report on your asset's reachability. After you've made your way through the other steps in the ACW, you can see the results of your scan on step eleven in the review step. In this example, you can see enumeration of the total number of assets you entered, how many URLs were found, API endpoints, login pages, how many assets were down, assets that are being blocked by security protections like a web application firewall, and assets that are not being blocked. The asset reachability scan will then give you recommendations based on the findings.
For example, what it may take to have the down assets be reachable or the recommendation to not have assets be blocked by security protections by white listing the addresses from which testing is coming from listed here in the scoping report. This scoping report is intended to help you spend less time troubleshooting with the Synack team and empower you to make sure that your assets are ready to be tested when you're ready. With this AI powered scoping bot, we further enhanced a key advantage of the Synack platform, which is the ease and speed of which you can spin up new penetration tests on demand.
