What Customers Value in a Penetration Testing Partner: Insights from G2 Reviews

0% read

In the Fall 2026 reports, Synack was named a Leader in both the G2 Grid® and Enterprise Grid® Reports for Penetration Testing, the second consecutive season after the same recognition in Summer. I am proud of that. G2’s grids are built on customer satisfaction and market presence, so a Leader placement is not our claim about ourselves. Synack currently has a 4.8/5 rating across 21 G2 reviews.

What matters to me is understanding why customers value working with us. Those reviews are more specific than anything we would put on a product page, and read together they show what customers value most in a penetration testing partner.

Penetration Testing Visibility Builds Customer Confidence

Customers need confidence in what has been tested and visibility into where more work is needed. One reviewer put it plainly:

“This means we’re confident our assets have actually been tested, not just that we’ve been told they have been.” Read the review on G2

A security team invests budget, time and trust in a partner, and it wants evidence, not assurances. The same reviewer describes seeing where testing time is focused, steering researchers toward the areas that need attention, and using analytics to spot recurring vulnerability types and show management where the investment went.

My take as a CMO is simple. When we talk about assurance, we should show what produces it. In this customer’s account, confidence comes from visibility and control, not from our word.

Expert Researchers Matter in a Penetration Testing Partner

Customers are unambiguous about how much the people matter. One reviewer wrote:

“An expert is always near by to assist in case of need.” Read the review on G2

The same review praises the platform’s interface, performance and integrations in the same breath. Technology and access to expertise are one experience, not two. A long-time customer was clearer still:

“Having a diverse pool of vetted researchers means our applications are continuously tested by individuals with varying skill sets and areas of expertise.” Read the review on G2

What these reviewers describe, expert help on hand and a range of researchers with different skills, is the human expertise at the center of how we think about AI and human penetration testing. Sara AI Pentesting, Synack’s AI pentesting capability, expands the speed and coverage of testing; the Synack Red Team, our vetted community of 1,500+ researchers, brings the adversarial creativity and judgment that decides which findings matter. These reviews underline how much customers value access to experienced people. That combination is also reflected in customer stories from Iberia Cards and Accenture.

Actionable Penetration Testing Findings Make Remediation Easier

Coverage and expertise still have to land as something a team can act on. One reviewer valued the detail that makes a fix possible:

“This reduces developer toil by cutting down the time needed to develop the remediation.” Read the review on G2

That perspective matters because the security team commissioning the test is rarely the only team in the response. Developers need enough detail to understand and fix the issue. Security leaders need to track progress, confirm the fix worked, and explain what changed. Finding a vulnerability is the start. The detail in the finding, how it was exploited and how to remediate it, is what lets the customer close it, and that is the part they remember.

Confirming the fix is part of that, and another reviewer singled it out:

“I really like how Synack’s service validates that a vulnerability is truly fixed once patching or code changes are applied.” Read the review on G2

Customers Value a Penetration Testing Partner That Acts on Feedback

The feedback I valued most was candid. A long-standing customer described our flexibility as a differentiator, but also pointed to an earlier gap in analytics. They wrote:

“Synack has since addressed this gap by rolling out much more robust analytics, and overall data visibility, which has significantly improved the experience.” Read the full review on G2

One concrete improvement the customer calls out is Synack’s more robust analytics and greater data visibility, which made it easier to examine metrics and trends across assessments. I value feedback like this because it tells us both what needed to improve and whether the changes helped.

The Fall G2 recognition is a chance to thank the customers who shared their views, and the researchers and teams whose work those reviews describe. What customers value sets a standard worth working toward: testing they can see, expertise they can reach, findings they can act on, and a partner that changes as they do. It is also the standard I want to carry into our planned combination with NetSPI.
